Putting greens from Southwest Greens are so true to life it’s amazing.  Every golfer has heard the adage “Drive for show, putt for dough.”.  Now you can practice those critical putts, chips, pitches, even sand shots, in your backyard.  A typical Southwest Greens backyard green is in the range of 500 to 1000 square feet, has the slopes and undulations you find on the golf course, and rolls smoothly in the 10-11 range on a Stimpmeter.  This gives you enough room to have some long putts and an area to chip from.  Bigger is better of course and if you have lots of room we can design a green with longer putts, more chipping area, and sand traps.  We could design a complete par three for you if you would like, or if you really have a lot of room we could build you a synthetic turf golf course.  Even in a limited space we can create a practice area that will help you shave strokes from your score and help you add enjoyment to your golf game.

It’s not all about practice though.  Golf is a game and we play it because it’s fun.  Your putting green will become the focus of backyard entertaining.  What could be better than firing up the grill, pouring a beverage, and playing a little golf with family and friends?  Lots of our clients host golf parties just like people have pool parties except you don’t need to put on a swimming suit and everyone can participate.  From the kids all the way to the great grandparents everyone can have a good time playing together on a Southwest Green.

Your backyard entertaining won’t be limited to the summer either.  In the midwest we have a lot of very pleasant fall, winter and early spring days where the temperature climbs into the 50’s and 60’s.  Sweater weather is great for golf, less so for jumping into a swimming pool.  A Southwest Green is an almost year round amenity.  Snow and ice won’t hurt it so it’s not covered from September to May.  At most you’ll only need a little touch up and your ready to play.

Southwest Greens look great too.  They blend into the landscape if you want or can be the focal point feature of your yard.  You can choose from several types of fringe like zoisia, fescue, rye, bluegrass, and a blend similar to bermuda.  These new turfs are so far removed from the old “green carpet” turfs you remember from putt putt golf it’s not even close.  Southwest Greens golf greens enhance the appearance of almost any yard.
